How to Tie the Uni Knot

  1. Pass the line through the hook eye and double back parallel to the standing line.
  2. Make a loop by laying the tag end over the doubled line.
  3. Wrap the tag end through the loop and around the doubled line 5-6 times.
  4. Moisten and pull the tag end to tighten the wraps.
  5. Slide the knot down to the hook eye and trim.

Pros

  • Extremely versatile — works for terminal tackle and joining lines
  • Easy to adjust tension before final tightening
  • Good with all line types

Cons

  • Slightly lower strength than Palomar with braid
  • Requires practice to seat consistently
