How to Tie the Palomar Knot

1. Double about 15 cm of line and pass the loop through the hook eye.
2. Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line.
3. Pass the loop over the hook entirely.
4. Moisten and pull both ends to tighten. Trim excess.

Pros

• Retains nearly 100% line strength
• Works with all line types including braid
• Very easy to tie even in low light

Cons

• Requires passing the hook through a loop, awkward with large lures
• Uses more line than other knots

Attaching hooks, jigs, and lures to any line type. Especially popular with braided line users.
