Non-Slip Loop Knot

How to Tie the Non-Slip Loop Knot

  1. Tie a loose overhand knot in the line, leaving a long tag end.
  2. Pass the tag end through the hook eye and back through the overhand knot.
  3. Wrap the tag end around the standing line 3-5 times (fewer wraps for heavier line).
  4. Pass the tag end back through the overhand knot (same side it exited).
  5. Moisten and pull to tighten. Trim the tag end.

Pros

  • Allows lure to move freely for better action
  • Strong and reliable loop connection
  • Loop size is adjustable before final tightening

Cons

  • Slightly more complex than a simple clinch knot
  • Not as strong as a snug-to-eye knot

Best Used For

Attaching lures, jigs, and flies where a free-swinging connection is desired for more natural presentation.
