Double Davy Knot

How to Tie the Double Davy Knot

  1. Thread the line through the hook eye.
  2. Form a loose loop with the tag end passing over the standing line.
  3. Bring the tag end behind and through the loop, then wrap once more around the top leg of the loop.
  4. Moisten and pull the standing line to tighten the knot against the hook eye.
  5. Trim the tag end closely.

Pros

  • Stronger than the standard Davy Knot
  • Still very fast and compact
  • Reliable with a wide range of tippet sizes

Cons

  • Slightly more complex than the single Davy
  • Small size can make it harder to check the knot

Best Used For

Tying on flies when a stronger connection than the basic Davy Knot is needed. Recommended for larger flies and heavier tippets.
